Cov Affects
about work
Cov Affects (2021) is a photographic image of a ceramic hand-formed still life of two masks in Plainsman Coffee clay laid over black small stones. Each mask representationally has a worn look of overuse and wear while differing in shape and form. The dark gritty clay color provides an eerie and sobering feel of doom. The permanency of the clay medium locks in the moment of the Covid-19 Epidemic, playing with the artist's feelings of the event.
Pollock created the delicate ceramic mask structures through a modified slab build construction method. Each mask was fired and left in an unglazed form.
